could someone try to attempt to explain to me how tarot cards work?
please be clear as possible…like for example if you ask a question about a different person…how does it get the right answer or the answer it does? that is just one example
Answer by Scorpio Wild Card
I have read Tarot Cards for years, I don’t see many questions about Tarot here… But I can sum up how they work for you.
Now, I started off reading in München, Deutschland, Munich, Germany… My first deck was given to me by my Aunt, who happen to find them near the sea… strange! I never was into Tarot nor really thought about it… until I picked those cards up and looked at them, I really didn’t go by the pictures or artwork on them… I went by the emotions I felt & sensed from them…
I’ve been reading Tarot since 1993 a young age on up ’till today…
Never lay just one card down… it can’t be deciphered really that way while asking a question, for example-
we may look at one word “Dog”
But we only see the word “Dog” but what did it do or where, what??
Now if we say, “The dog walked down the street and jumped over the fence.” that gives us a picture other than just “Dog” Same with Tarot, you have to use more than one card.
Yes every card has a meaning, but to get a true and not vague answer use at least 4, never stop at an odd number in Tarot such as 3,7 or 9 cards… & so on..
If you ask a question about a person, a court card will or should show up, particularly their card such as the Queen of Cup, Page of Wands & so on…
Or even the Major Arcane cards such as the Hierophant or High Priestess, Empress and so on can be the person…
Everyone deciphers differently… BUT honestly all in the end the cards foretell where the pieces will fall…
One can’t possibly tell you every detail about tarot, but I can give you the 3 keys to use them…
-other than the artwork &c… ppl seem to find beautiful, which it is…but calmly concentrate on the emotions the pattern is giving you. Most use the Celtic cross spread, which consists of a 10 card layout, just google it…
– Another key is understand that time is within a cycle…
– Another key is knowing that reading Tarot is a talent, not a Black Art as in occult…
Just like a Painter uses a tool to paint a picture… the tool would be the brush…
well, in the Psychic’s eye, the Tarot would be the tol to predict the future,
Better- Perceive the future, as prediction is only perception anyway until it happens, that’s the way of the tarot.
Find your own system of reading the cards…
Asking a question about a person, personally, I would put my hand over the deck ask the question, shuffle and lay out 8 cards, keep adding until you find your answer, it’s just natural, remember don’t stop at an odd #.
That’s the only way I can explain it…
Hoped that help..

We are all made up of vibrations, people who have learned how to interpret these vibration use things like cards, bones, tea leaves, animal intestines etc…
The cards just pick up on the vibrations being put out & gives you an answer. I read tarot and I always tell people that whatever the cards say we still have free will and can change the outcome if we wish.

From my personal experience there must be a connection between the tarot reader and the cards they are using to receive an answer. Interpretation of the card(s) drawn can vary from reader to reader and be based on the readers own intuition and connection with the querent and/or their guides.

My own personal theory on how Tarot works is that it is a way of communicating with our other self, our intuitive right brain hemisphere.
I read a fascinating book recently called “The Daemon”, by Anthony Peake. (you can just hear the howls of ‘Satanic!’ from the bible bunch! 🙂 )
His theory runs close to mine in that we have a higher self that knows the future as it has already lived our life. It can’t talk but it does sometimes it communicate with us (our lower self).
He gives some fascinating evidence, some of it scientific, some religious to back his theory.
For example did you know that our brain’s have been proven to react to stimulus on our fingers before our fingers are stimulated?
There’s been experiments with anaesthetising the left side of the brain or using hypnotherapy to put it to sleep which has left a 2nd personality which is mute but can communicate in symbols and seems to know a lot more than the conscious person.
Tarot is a communication tool that talks to us using symbology, a lot of the symbology is ancient classical elements and numerology. Explanation is given here in this article:
A lot of the symbology is even Christian and modern.
The other way this higher self communicates with us is in our dreams. Interpretation of dreams is much easier if you have a good working knowledge of the classical elements.
You could say Tarot is dreaming in a wake state.
It’s a fascinating topic to get into and discover more about, always keep an open mind!
How do I use tarot cards?
Please, give me directions a kindergardener can understand. I haven’t been able to understand any of my previous answers!

I do not know how to put it simply.
The deck is divided into two parts, the Minor Arcana and the Major Arcana or Trumps.
The Minor Arcana are the cups, swords, wands and pentacles, like the four suits of a traditional deck of cards. The Major Arcana are specific cards like The Fool, The Moon, The Sun, etc. Some have different names depending on the deck.
Each card, be it minor or major arcana has a meaning. The meaning changes depending on if the card is laid down rightside up or upside down, which is called reversed.
To do a tarot reading, shuffle the deck and mix all the cards together, try to put some upside down. Laying the cards down is called a “Spread” and there are different kinds available.
The simplest is to lay three cards down one after another in a line. The first card represents the Past, the second the Present, and the third the Future.
They can also mean the Question, the Solution, and the Outcome.
Now, to find the meanings of the cards you will need a book, or a website, that describes what each card means. Simple go to google and type in “Standard Tarot Card Meanings” and browse through the sites you find until you come across one that describes the cards in a way you understand. Or, find out what deck you have, and buy the book for that deck on amazon.
Once you have used the cards for years, you will begin to notice things in your readings and the results that will help you create your own unique interpretations of the cards. But this is born of years of working with the cards, and of getting feedback from the people you do readings for about how their questions turned out.
This is as simple as it can be told. But to try and sum up:
Shuffle the deck.
Lay the cards out three in a row.
Find a site that says the meaning of the cards.
Find the meaning of the three cards you pulled out.
Tell this meaning to whoever you are doing a reading for.

This is my experience in Tarot.
A few years ago I got into it. I understood it, it was fascinating to me…
Then I became obsessed with it. I could not leave the house until My cards told me it was safe…I’d get a bad reading, and would keep shuffling and dealing. I would cry if I couldn’t get a good reading.
I became depressed. My husband had warned me, but I wouldn’t listen. They are dark. Just like the ouija board…..I don’t know. Some people can do it and have no trouble. A friend of mine does it, and she prays for protection surrounding herself with the White Light of the Holy Spirit.
I didn’t need them any way. I am psychic, and have little trouble getting answers from Spirit when I need them. But, I am still growing. We never stop growing and learning.
If you must do Tarot, pray for protection. Bad spirits look for open doors. You only want good to enter.

If you believe in God, is it wrong to believe in luck, astrology, and tarot cards?
I’m confused, because many Christians either incorporate these things, or believe it has some significance in their lives.
Answer by Fireball
luck happens and astrology is about personalities but avoid the tarot stuff…
