Get The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Tarot – http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Idiots-Guide-idiots-guides/dp/1592570666/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240514723&sr=8-1

There are loads of starter kits you can buy in bookstores for good prices. They don’t give answers, as such, but might help with your understanding. You might want to buy some books on this (check the Internet beforehand – some stuff is a bit dodgy) and other subjects.
Also, you don’t have to be psychic to read tarot. And maybe you’re just a good judge of character.

The cards –any other divination tool–help you concentrate and focus your mind.
Get a set of cards that you like and get a simple guidebook on how to read the cards–sorry, I cannot recommend any. After you become familiar with the standard (book) meanings of the cards, Meditate on each card and think about what it “feels like” and means to you. Do this for a few days. Then begin to do spreads and slowly, you will get the hang of it.
You might also want to try reading tea leaf patterns or buy or make a scrying mirror or crystal. You look into the mirror or crystal and see what mental impressions come up about the person or situation that you are “reading.”
Is it right to place the bible alongside books on tarot cards, palm reading, ritualistic cannibalism etc?
It’s all the same category, right? Illogical stuff without evidence that people believe and practice in the hope it will have some positive influence on their lives?

That’s asinine. Whether or not you believe in the biblical myth, there is no reason to believe it belongs with them. Those are practices, not mythological texts.
Is it bad luck to buy your own deck of tarot cards?
How do you learn to do tarot? Does tarot have to be something your family has done like tradition to be able to do it your self?

Its “bad luck” to own or use them. Tarot cards, along with other occult things (Ouija boards for example), are not what you want in your life. They are dark, and not to be melodramatic, but they’re satanic. Stay away from that sort of thing.

It is bad luck to buy your own deck,it should be a gift.
